Driver With 4 Children In Car Faces DWI

ONEONTA – After 911 calls about an erratic driver on I-88, state police arrested an Oneonta man for DWI with his four children in the car.  Andrew J. Adams, 35, was arrested at 8:10 p.m. Saturday after crashing his Chevy Impala into a guard rail near mile marker 33 in the Town of Sidney, troopers said.

No one was injured, and the investigation determined that Adams was impaired by drugs at the time of the crash. While being processed for his arrest Adams became disorderly and swung and punched at troopers as they additionally restrained him.

Adams was charged with the class D felony of assault second, four counts of the class E felony of aggravated driving while intoxicated with children under the age of 16, four counts of the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child, the misdemeanor of driving while ability impaired by drugs, the violation of harassment 2nd and several other traffic violations.  

He was remanded to the Delaware County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 property bond.  His next court date in the Town of Sidney is on Feb. 26.
