Back from deployment in Romania, Marine Jeremy Denmeade of Richfield Springs thanks pupils in Ann Szwejbka’s third-grass class at Cooperstown Elementary School this afternoon for sending him letters from home while he was in Eastern Europe.   The letter-writing exercise followed a visit to the classroom last fall by a community member familiar with Romania.  A 2012 graduate of Richfield Springs Central, Denmeade is home on leave for a few days.  His mother, Laurie Pestar, is a Cooperstown Elementary secretary.  Pupils listening raptly, from left, are Waylon Cassell, Jonah Hitchcock, Max Scharf and Claire Kapusniak.(Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
