Under Way In Cooperstown
COOPERSTOWN – The long-awaited TEP (first contemplated in 2013) is underway.
Two of 24 vintage-style lampposts planned for Pioneer Street were installed yesterday afternoon in front of the NBT Bank Branch, direct from Spring City Electrical Manufacturing Co. in Pennsylania.
Tomorrow – that’s at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the Village Hall Ballroom – Mayor Ellen Tillapaugh Kuch is hosting an informational meeting on both the TEP (federal Transportation Enhancement Program) improvements to Main Street, including the signal at Main and Chestnut, and the $5 million Doubleday Field upgrade on the third-base line.
Even before the informational meeting, work had begun. Village Administrator Teri Barown provided these details of what’s planned the first week:
- Monday, continue saw cutting on Main Street east of Fair Street to River. Start to pull wires for the new lights on Pioneer Street
- Tuesday, cut asphalt at ADA ramp ramp areas on Northern and Southern Pioneer, to prep for new curbs
- Wednesday, removal of concrete in repair areas of pioneer and ADA access points. Start to set new light poles.
- Thursday, continue removals and prep for concrete and curbs, start prep for pavers.
- Friday, continue the paver prep and erecting of new lights.
