IN MEMORIAM: Janet L. Spencer, 54;
Cancer Strikes Schenevus Native In N.J.
SCHENEVUS – Janet L. Spencer (Holling), 54, of Salem, N.J., formerly of Schenevus, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, in the Cooper University Hospital, Camden, N.J., after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on Nov. 12, 1964, and her parents were William and Ruth Holling, and was raised by her mother and second husband Harold Ritchey, who she also considered her father. Janet married in 1988 and moved to Quinton, N.J.
There, she graduated with a degree in business management from Salem County Community College, where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society, the foremost honor society for two-year colleges.
She was involved in the Quinton school as president of the Soccer Association, a coach and referee.
Janet’s last job prior to becoming ill was at GE Aviation in Newark, Del.
Janet viewed her life as an adventure and never took a moment for granted. Her sense of humor and laughter were infectious and could brighten the worst of days. She will be sorely missed.
Janet is survived by her son, William Spencer; sisters Debora Holling and Linda Spencer, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be at the Schenevus Cemetery, 67 Main St., Schenevus, at a date to be announced.
