COOPERSTOWN – There are still no cases of Otsego County residents testing positive for the COVID-19 corona virus.

There are, however, four positive cases in the Bassett Healthcare Network catchment area, but only one is being treated presently at a hospital facility. Of the four, two are from Herkimer County, and one each from Delaware and Chenango counties, according to Bassett Karen Huxtable-Hooker.

“This is our current understanding from the various county public health departments,” she said. “However, we anticipate there will be additional positive cases as there is a backlog of tests that we are awaiting for results from the laboratory.”

At Bassett, there is still only one person hospitalized, the same one – from Herkimer County – that was confirmed at last Friday’s press conference.  Again, none from Otsego.

At the county Public Health Department, Director Heidi Bond said this morning that nine lab tests have been returned on Otsego County people, and all were negative.  In all, the county is aware of 42 lab tests in progress.

However, Bond said there are probably other tests out there, as the lines of communication between all parties are still being worked out.

  1. Bassett is not testing enough people.
They are still asking for travel history and contact history.
    How idiotic it is.
Now it’s a pandemic with community spread.
I guess they don’t have kits to test.
They do a flu swab and send home.
1/100 gets tested and results come in 5 days (by that time patient is either in ICU or recovered at home).
    SMH!
