Dawn Marie Huckabone Myers, 53

Volunteer With Fire Dept. Auxiliary

Dawn M. H. Myers

Dawn Marie Huckabone Myers, age 53, passed away, after a long courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the comfort and support of her loving family at her side.

Dawn was born on April 18, 1968, in Ilion, daughter of Jean A. Fahey Huckabone and the late Douglas A. Huckabone. She was raised in Springfield Center and was a graduate of Springfield Center High School. She furthered her education, graduating with an Associate’s Degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. She continued her education at SUNY Oneonta where she received a bachelor’s degree in both psychology and sociology.

In 1995, she went to work for the Bank of America OP Center and in 2014, for Berkshire Bank Ilion branch, where she held the position of teller supervisor.

She retired in April of 2018, after 25 years of dedicated service, due to her illness.

Dawn had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church.

She also was a member of the Springfield Fire Department Auxiliary and team Doin’ It for You Relay for Life. She was an avid follower of the Jets, Penguins and NASCAR and loved anything that was tie-dyed. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Michigan, to see family with her mother and daughter.

To all who knew her she was fun-loving and always ready to lend a helping hand. Her warmth and friendship to others will forever be remembered.

Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Kilts; and her mother, Jean Huckabone, both of Springfield Center; two brothers and their wives, Douglas and Beth Main, of Black River and Joseph and Jenn Main, of Frankfort; two sisters, Michele Gage and her husband, Michael, of Fly Creek and Melissa Huckabone and Orrin Higgins, of Mount Vision; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and close family friend, Stewart Wayman. Special to her were times spent with niece, Lily and nephew, Sawyer, who she loved to spoil.

Besides her father, Douglas, she was preceded in death by Francis and Mildred Fahey; and special cousin, Edward Fahey.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Palliative Care Team, second and third floor staff at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, as well as Reverend James Barnes, Pastor of the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church.

Calling hours for Dawn will be on Thursday evening, April 29, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. Funeral service will take place on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery. All Covid protocols will be implemented.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Springfield Fire Department Auxiliary and team Doin’ It For You Relay For Life. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
