IN MEMORIAM: Philip Ford, 84;

Proprietor Of CV Burner Service

CHERRY VALLEY – Philip Arthur Ford, 84, proprietor of Phil’s Burner Service for many years, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Palatine Nursing Home, with his wife by his side.

He was born Feb. 28 1932, in Fairfield, Conn., to Arthur Ford and Helen (Lockwood) Ford.

Phil loved the family farm, and was an avid animal lover, especially his many dogs. He operated Phil’s Burner Service until his retirement.

He enjoyed tinkering with his antique John Deere tractors and was passionate about his vegetable garden, where he could be found most summer evenings tending his plants.
Phil met his wife, Daisy while serving in the Air Force at Carlswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas. They were married in February 1958 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed 58 years of marriage.

They had three sons James, who predeceased him in 2013, John and Joseph.

In addition to his wife, Phil survived by his wife; two sons, John (Amy) Ford of Hartwick, and their four children, Jeremiah, Lucienne, Julietta and Abbigail, and Joseph (Rebecca) Taylor of Santa Rosa, Calif., and their son Elias; and James’ son Tyson Ford of Chicago Ill.

Also, his sister Patricia (Joseph) Keegan of Albany, and their son Michael (Bernadette) Keegan of Washington D.C.

A celebration of his life will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

A remembrance Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, St. Thomas the Apostle, with a luncheon to follow next door at Kateri Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
