Canisius Grad Began Career In Buffalo

SCHENEVUS – Nicole J. Butzke, 25, who went to Buffalo to attend Canisius College in 2009 and remained to begin her working life, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016.

She was born on March 28, 1991, in Cooperstown, the daughter of William and Kimberly (Wawrzynek) Butzke.

Nicole was an assistant manager at Enterprise Holdings in Buffalo, where she has resided for the past six years.

She graduated from Schenevus Central School in 2009, and received her bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Canius in 2013.

In her younger days she was a member of the Schenevus “Go-Getters” 4H Club, Schenevus Elk Creek Dairy Explorers 4-H Club.

Nicole enjoyed playing sports; especially soccer, basketball and track. Most recently, she enjoyed playing intramural soccer in the Buffalo area.

Nicole is survived by her parents, William and Kimberly Butzke of Schenevus; her brother, William Butzke Jr. and his wife Hanna of Schenevus; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Sandra Wawrzynek of Darien Center; her paternal grandparents, Herbert and Gretel Butzke of Schenevus; her the uncles, John Butzke and his companion Marjorie Garden of Schenectady, Scott Wawrzynek and his wife Angela of Pendelton, Robert Wawrzynek and wife Melissa of Hot Springs, Ark.; her aunt, Kellie Smith and her husband Anthony of East Amherst, and her cousins Zachary and Madison Wawrzynek, Anthony Jr. and Daniel Smith, and Jeremy and Jacob Wawrzynek.

Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St, Worcester, NY.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at St. Joseph’s Church, 201 Main Street in Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Schenevus Cemetery

Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Nicole to the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, 4841 NY-28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
