IN MEMORIAM: Viola Reed, 87, Oneonta;

Ran Daycare Service At Home For 21 Years

ONEONTA – Viola M. Reed, 87, who operated a daycare service in her Oneonta home for 21 years while raising her own children, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Chestnut Park Rehab. & Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Fleischmanns the daughter of the late Harley and Florence (Caniff) Haynes.  Viola graduated from Treadwell Central School.
On May 7, 1948, Viola married Leo W. Reed in Oneonta. Leo predeceased her on Aug. 5, 2009.

In addition to the daycare service, she and Leo also owned and operated their own custodial service.

Viola’s passion was her family. She loved and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great-great grandson
Viola is survived by her three children, Robert Reed of Oneonta, Marilyn and Choral Mattison of Milford and Debra and Doug Allen of Oneonta; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great grandson due in April; one great-great grandson; sister, Mary Tettamont of Clinton; half brother, Ted Bundy of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Linda Reed and brother, Jack Haynes.

Calling hours will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, in the Bookhout Funeral Home,  Oneonta. A graveside service will be in the spring in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
