Organizers Seek IDA Parcel

Cindy Klemm of Richfield Youth Sports introduces Len Pickens, RYS president, at this morning’s Otsego Now meeting, where he asked the county IDA to turn over a former development site off Route 28 to be developed as permanent athletic fields for the community’s young people. Longterm, the goal would be to build a recreation center/gymnasium. Cooperstown has the Clark Sports Center, Pickens said, and the county’s third-largest community needs to fill similar needs. The contingent, which included Richfield Springs architect Jim Jordan, behind Pickens, and attorney Doug Zamelis, received a positive reception from the board, which said the plan would be referred to the its projects committee.  The site in question has been proposed for a commerce park, but was never developed, due to a lack of municipal water, and the discovery of Native American artifacts.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
