IN MEMORIAM: Ronald J. Pavlus, 71;

Vietnam Vet, Jordanville Postmaster

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Ronald J. Pavlus, 71, of Division Street, Richfield Springs, Vietnam veteran and retired Jordanville postmaster, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1946, in Cooperstown, son of the late John and Anna (Devan) Pavlus. He graduated from Owen D. Young High School, Van Hornesville, with the Class of 1964.

Mr. Pavlus was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Army. He entered the service on Aug. 13, 1964, in Syracuse. He was honorably discharged as a SP5 on March 7, 1967.

On July 5, 1969, he was united in marriage, the former Sandra (Fullerton) Hoage, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls.  The couple was married for 48 years.

He was a member of the Richfield Springs VFW Post and a life member of Ilion American Legion Post 920.

A Postal Service employee for 30 years, he retired from the Jordanville post.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; sons, Brian Pavlus, Tupper Lake, and Ronald J. Pavlus Jr., and his wife, April, of Madison; daughters Diana Armstrong and her husband, John, Richfield Springs, Lisa Fassett and her husband, Dale, Hartwick and Jeannette Pavlus, Richfield Springs; brothers, Richard Pavlus, Jordanville and John Pavlus and his wife, Suri, Bronx; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Baker, Wendy Pavlus, Alisha Armstrong, Jessica Fahey, Stacey Pavlus, Logan Ruth, Mark Pavlus and Sierra Nassimos; and great-grandchildren, Blake Eissler and Olida Pavlus.

There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls.
