Hobart Deaths Called Murder-Suicide

HOBART – Two bodies found in an apartment here yesterday belong to a husband and wife, and the case is being considered a murder-suicide, according to state police.

An autopsy is still pending, but investigators are concluding the man, Christopher D. German, 57, of South Kortright, shot and killed his estranged wife Lisa K. German, 52, at her apartment on Route 10, Hobart, then shot himself.

Troopers at Margaretville found the bodies after receivi

ng a 911 call from the husband’s employer after the man failed to show up for work yesterday.  Officers went to his home, and found no one there, then went to the wife’s where the bodies were found at about 2 p.m.

A .38-caliber revolver was found near the bodies, and was found to be consistent with the nature of the wounds.

There is no record of any earlier domestic incidents.  The couple’s three children had been in the father’s custody; they are now staying with family.

no previously reported domestic incidents with the State Police.  They leave behind three children who are with family.
