IN MEMORIAM: Anna Vandermark, 93;
Celebrated Her Polish Heritage Whole Life
ONEONTA – Anna Marie Zaczek Morley Vandermark, who moved on her retirement to Oneonta, where a daughter lives, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016.
She born on the Zaczek farm in Cannonsville, Delaware County, on Nov. 20, 1922.
Granny loved to pick strawberries and blueberries and always had homemade jam for anyone with a sweet tooth. She canned tomatoes every fall until she was 90 years old. Her Polish galumpki was always a favorite at family gatherings and she passed that recipe lovingly to her children and grandchildren to share with their families.
After retirement Anna moved to Oneonta where for many years she was a companion and home health aide to many local residents.
Anna never met a polka band she didn’t like. She celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends with a huge polka party. Those feet would be moving even if her body was no longer able.
Anna is survived by her children, Sandy (Sally) Morley of Plattsburgh, Judy (Bill) Taggart of Oneonta, Stan (Dana) Morley of Binghamton, Paul (Nancy) Morley of Vermont, and David (Lori) Vandermark of Watertown; grandchildren, Amy Taggart of Oneonta, Heather Taggart Morse (Bryon Morse) of Oneonta, Tracy (George) Cushman of Binghamton, Andy (Amber) Morley of Deposit, Adam (Amanda) Morley of Windsor, Nathan (Candace) Morley of Ohio, Ben (Chrissy) Morley of Vermont, Dan (Nina) Morley of Maryland, Angela Elrod of Georgia, Lucas (Becky) Vandermark of Georgia; Anna was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; also surviving her sisters, Josephine Rillo of Albany and Jennie Gould of Vestal, many nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehab Center for the loving care of Anna these last five months.
