Bluegrass Turns Up Heat

As Foothills’ Fest Begins

The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys – top photo, from right, Evan Jagels, Will Lunn, Randy Miritello and Darin Trass – warm up the crowd this evening in the Foothills’ Atrium for the two-day Bluegrass Americana Music Festival, that will peak at 8 p.m. Saturday evening in the Main Theater when The SteelDrivers, who won a Grammy just a month ago, perform “If It Hadn’t Been For Love” and other hits.   Dancing to the Playboys and Tumbleweed Highway this evening included, lower left, Pete and Debby Corrigan from Rochester, whose son, Steve Scuteri, will perform with the Ruddy Well Band when the festival picks up again at noon Saturday.  At right, Abigail Vroman, 7, of Charlotteville, inspired a younger fan to try a few steps.  Other bands performing throughout Saturday afternoon are The Howlin’ Brothers, The Hop City Hellcats and Milkweed, top regional Bluegrass bands coming to Oneonta from throughout Central New York.   Tonight’s warm-up was free; tomorrow, it’s $30 a head from noon through the end of the SteelDrivers late in the evening.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
