William Allen White, author of “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” and other well-known writings, declines without thanks the invitation to abandon the Progressive movement and return to the Republican Party. The group acts on issues pertaining to planning, fiscal policy, major medical equipment, project review, and code creation and revision. According to Mary H. Fairbanks, the Council’s chairwoman, Streck’s role on the council is unique because of his extensive experience in an upstate tertiary facility with numerous outreach sites. “Dr. Streck is one of three Council members from the upstate medical community. The other four physician members reside downstate, so Dr. Streck, as the only upstate rural hospital representative, will provide the Council with direction and views from this area,” Fairbanks said.
