IN MEMORIAM:  Carl L. Hughes, 76;

Ran One Of Last Farms In Oneonta

ONEONTA – Carl L. Hughes, 76, a lifelong farmer, passed away April 13, 2018 at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

He was born Dec. 2, 194,  in Oneonta, the son of Abram and Ermal Ruby (McLean) Hughes.

He married Marguerite Hollenback, on April 29, 1967, in Worcester.

Carl was a life-long dairy farmer, working the family business, Hughes Farm in Oneonta.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Hughes of Oneonta; a daughter, Sharon Hughes of Oneonta; two brothers, Kenneth and Patricia Hughes and Charles and Ester Hughes, all of Milford; a sister, Martha and Paul Constatine of Fort Walton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the Hartwick Cemetery, 3664 State Route 205, Hartwick, with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, officiating.

Donations may be made to the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, 4841 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
