ONEONTA – Douglas John Stucin, 36, of Oneonta passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday Oct. 8, 2016.

Doug was born in Oneonta on Oct. 6, 1980, the son of John G. and the late Erika (Roberge) Stucin.

He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1999, and for many years was employed by Wal-Mart both in Oneonta and Aiken, S.C.

Doug enjoyed watching TV shows and movies, especially block busters on the first release day. He was always happy and would carry on a conversation with anyone. He was eager to help, be it friend or stranger. He got around Oneonta on foot and was often seen pulling his wagon. Doug loved to go to garage and rummage sales.  He considered himself an expert at finding treasures.

He is survived by his father, John G. Stucin of Fly Creek; a sister, Jamie Anmac (Glenn Schmitt III), and her children, Selin and Wyatt of North Augusta, S.C.; two paternal aunts, Joan (Karl) Saboda of Troy, and Mary Ann (Joe) Hartmann of West Oneonta; maternal uncle, Jim (Ellen) Roberge of Orlando, Fla., and several cousins.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta.  There will a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Feeding Ministries at St. James Church, 305 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are with the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.
