COOPERSTOWN – Lt. Col. (ret.) Harold “Hal” L. Slover, 77, United States Army, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sept. 12, 2019, in Fairfax, Va., where he lived.
Fondly referred to as “Hal,” he grew up in Cooperstown, and graduated from Norwich University’s military college in Vermont.
He joined the Army as a second lieutenant and served two tours in Vietnam. In all, he served 28 years in the Army before retiring in 1993 as a lieutenant colonel in Fairfax, Va.
Hal was known for his infectious laugh and loved to spend time with family and friends. He loved going to the American Legion clam bake in Cooperstown, and spending time with friends and family at Otsego Lake and Glimmerglass State Park.
A devoted family man, Harold was the son of Daniel A. Slover and Dorothy M. Benedict. He was the brother of the late Diane Bobnick and younger sister of Dorothy Smith, who resides in Warnerville.
He was married to the late Roberta L. (Hartman) Slover, and is survived by three children, Kathleen M. Slover, Daniel A. Slover and Harold D. Slover, all residing in the Washington, D.C. area. Hal had five grandchildren.
Harold L. Slover will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery in the late spring to early summer of 2020.

A memorial service will be 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave. West, Vienna, Va.
