IN MEMORIAM: Ilene B. Arlet, 61;

Ilene B. Arlet

ONEONTA – Funeral services are Tuesday for Ilene Barbara Arlet, 61, a dependable volunteer at Catskill Area Hospital and other local organizations, who passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Fox Hospital.

he was born on June 1, 1956 in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of Herbert and Mildred (Baumann) Seligman. She married John R. Arlet on Dec. 13, 2002.

Ilene received her bachelor’s from SUNY Oneonta in sociology and her master’s degree in social sciences from SUNY Binghamton.

In addition to Hospice, she volunteered with Birthright of Sidney and Friends of Oneonta Community Health Center.

Ilene liked dancing, HGTV, road trips, and spending time with friends and family. Her biggest joys though were seeing her daughter grow up into a sweet, strong, and successful woman, as well as the peace and love she found in her marriage to John.

Ilene is survived by her husband, John Arlet of Oneonta; her daughter, Wendy Saldarriaga of Rochester; her sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Joseph Hovey and their children, David, Hannah, and Gabriella Hovey of Edinburg, Texas; and her brother Steven Seligman of Raleigh, N.C.

She was predeceased by her father and stepmother, Herbert and Selma Seligman; her mother and stepfather, Mildred and Fritz Hartog; and her brother, Floyd Seligman.

A memorial service will be at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 12 Ford Ave, Oneonta. A reception will follow.

Contributions in Ilene’s memory are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society.
