IN MEMORIAM:  Irma Lorraine Sosnovik, 92;

Burial Saturday In N.J. For Retired Nurse

COOPERSTOWN – A memorial service is planned is Saturday, April 6, for Irma Lorraine Sosnovik, 92, who moved 15 years ago from New Jersey to Cooperstown, where one of her daughters resides, and passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2019.

The service is schedule for 1 p.m. Saturday, at Devoe’s Funeral Home in Washington, N.J., with an internment ceremony to follow at the Pequest Union Cemetery of Great Meadows, N.J.

She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Easton, Pa., daughter of the late Arthur Cressman Foss and Augusta Courtright Foss of Stewartsville, N.J.

Irma graduated from Phillipsburg (N.J.) High School and Jersey City Medical School of Nursing.  She married Stephen J. Sosnovik in 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alpha, N.J., and she lived in Harmony, N.J., before moving to Cooperstown.

She was a cadet nurse and worked as a Registered Nurse for several years at Jersey City Medical Center and Bath Veterans Hospital in Steuben County, retiring from Warren Hospital Maternity Department, Phillipsburg, N.J., after more than 30 years.

Irma was a gifted artist and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Irma  loved country hymns, particularly ones by Vince Gill, and read her Bible daily.

She will be always remembered for her kindness and uncanny ability to always win at gin rummy.

Survivors include two sons, Theodore (Roxanne) of Watertown, and Edward J. of Blairstown, N.J., and two daughters, Rosemarie (Bart) Krauss of Washington Crossing, Pa.,  and Maryann (Gene) Oestman of Cooperstown.   Also, 10 grandchildren, John (Rick) Anderson, James (Ryan) Anderson, Marcus Oestman, Troy Sosnovik, Matthew Sosnovik, Kyle Sosnovik, Amber Sosnovik, Stephanie Sosnovik, Lauren Krauss and Michael Krauss. Nine great-grandchildren, Austin Sosnovik, Stone Sosnovik, Paige Sosnovik, Grace Sosnovik, Brynn Sosnovik, Wyatt Anderson, Julian Anderson, Abrum Gratocos, and Fox Gratocos.  In addition, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her husband, Stephen, passed away Feb. 5, 1987, and her only brother, Lloyd Foss Sr., died June 12, 2016.
