IN MEMORIAM: Janet Demorest, 74,

Raised Family In Springfield Center

SPRINGFIELD CENTER – Janet A. Demorest, 74, of Texas Road, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, in Albany Medical Center.

She was born on March 6, 1944, in Cooperstown, a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Galusha Vickerson. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Van Hornesville High School.

On Dec. 15, 1962, she married Charles M. Demorest in the Richfield Springs United Methodist Church; they just recently celebrated their 56th anniversary.

Janet was a homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her family. She loved cooking, crafting and most of all spending time with her family.

Besides her husband Charles, she is survived by her son Charles Demorest, Jr. and his wife Marianne of Schuyler Lake, a daughter Carol Demorest of Springfield, a brother James Vickerson and his wife Erma of Springfield Center, two sisters
Diane Hubiak and her husband Ronald of Richfield Springs, Betty Fassett of East Springfield, three grandchildren Brittany Demorest of Schuyler Lake, Jessica Qratten and her husband Ryan of Clinton, Brandon Demorest of Vernon, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son Wayne Demorest in 2008.

A funeral service for Mrs. Demorest will take place on 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Mark Ioset, Church of Christ Uniting, officiating. Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. before the service.

Interment will take place this spring in Springfield Center Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory with donations to the American Cancer Society envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
