Jason M. Harageones

UNADILLA – Jason M. Harageones of Unadilla passed away in the early morning of Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, his 32nd birthday, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was born Aug. 31, 1987, at Fox Hospital, the son of Michael and Christine.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and just being outside. He also enjoyed sports especially football. But what gave Jason the greatest joy was spending time with his children, family and friends.

He viewed his life as an adventure never taking a moment for granted. His sense of humor and laughter were infectious and could brighten the worst of days.

Jason is survived by his mother, Christine and Howard Allen; father, Michael Harageones; the love of his life, Michelle Jones and their two children Jason, Jr. and Mia; and his two first-born children, Zane and Scylla, and their mothers; sister Heather M. Harageones (Brandon Post); brother Michael P. Harageones (Paige); grandmother Sonja Allen; several nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as two special friends, Dan Couse and Danielle Stoesser.

He was predeceased by his brother, Mark A. Flory; two grandmothers, Alice V. Harageones and Marion A. Flory; three grandfathers, Alexander J. Harageones, Mark H. Flory and Richard H. Allen.

Calling hours will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle officiating.

Mental illness and addiction struggles are real. Jason’s family has asked that, instead of sending flowers, show compassion to one person who is struggling.
