Former Oneonta Mayor David W. Brenner reads selections from his new book, “The Life and Letters of Christopher F. Kompare U.S.N,” at the Swart Wilcox House.  Brenner’s appearance was the final program in the Summer Sunday Series.  In his hands he holds a folio of the original postcards the sailor mailed home during World War II that were collected and organized by sister in the 1940s.   Kompare, whose family moved from Albany to Oneonta while he was at war, died in a Kamikaze attack near the war’s end.  (Ian Austin/ allotsego.com)
