IN MEMORIAM: Louis R. Kilts, 74;

Oneontan Worked In Maintenance

MOHAWK – Louis R. Kilts, 74, of Mohawk, an Oneonta native who leaves several survivors in Otsego County, died Friday Oct. 12, 2018, at Bassett Hospital.

Louis was born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Oneonta to Earl R. Kilts and Lilian Anderson Kilts. He worked in maintenance throughout his life.

He had a lifelong fascination with Indian lore and was interested in wolves, electronics of every kind, and computers. He was a master at taking things apart and reassembling them so they worked better than before.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his siblings Robert, Alberta, Joanne, Earl (“Junior”), Helen Rose, James, and Tina.

Louis is survived by his sons, Richard Stevens (Christine) of Sidney and William Kilts (Omi Collette) of Clinton, as well as his grandchildren, among them his granddaughter Brandy O’Connor of Sidney. Also, five siblings, Ruby Kilts of Cherry Valley and her children, Angelica Rumble (Lonnie) of Ilion and Tiffany Crim (James Chadwell) of Cherry Valley; Ruth Kilts of Florida and her children, Jason Schorer (Raelynn) of Newport, Herkimer County, Cheri Sparks (Heath) of Ohio, and Christopher Schorer (April) of Norwich; Donna Kilts of Fort. Plain and her children, Jacky Roe (Ashley) of Frankfort, Jesse Cresong (Renae) of Fort Plain, Tana Cresong of Herkimer, and Jeremy Condon of Herkimer; Denise Kilts Stockigt of Herkimer and her children, Danny Stockigt (Tab), Lawrence Stockigt (Cassandra) of North Carolina, Juanita Stockigt of Herkimer, and Michael Stockigt (Veronica) of Richfield Springs; and John Kilts of Mohawk, and his children, Tiesha (David) Comstock of Mohawk and Jennifer Jean Kilts of Cherry Valley.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Westville Cemetery, Westville.

Arrangements are under the care of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
