IN MEMORIAM: Madolyn Danzi, 96;

3 Daughters, 9 Grandchildren Survive

Madolyn M. Danzi

ONEONTA – Madolyn M. Danzi, 95, of Oneonta, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 11, 1922, in Oneonta, the daughter of Francis and Shelby (Nader) Monser. She married her best friend, Otto P. Danzi, on July 26, 1947 in Oneonta. He predeceased her on September 30, 2007.

Madolyn started every day with her quiet time, reading her Bible and praying. She taught everyone around her how to love deeply and cultivate a strong faith.

She always had a seemingly endless supply of cookies available and cherished making lunch for her grandkids. She spent her Sunday afternoons sitting in the sun and cheering on her Buffalo Bills. She was always ready for an adventure, spending her afternoons on a car ride or with her nose in a good book.

Madolyn loved sharing her Lebanese heritage with her family, through baking pita bread and dancing through the kitchen while it cooked. Her home was always filled with her great love and laughter.

Madolyn was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Oneonta and was involved with the Young at Hearts Club and Rosary Society.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Suzanne and Ralph Miller of Oneonta, Denise and Robert Rotolo of Webster, and Judi Visnosky of Oneonta; 9 grandchildren, Trey and Judith Miller, Peter and Mary Miller, Joshua and Christina Miller, Nicole and Michael Chilson, Zachary Miller, Jason and Whitney Rotolo, Kathryn and Patrick Knapp, Jonathan Visnosky, and Hannah Visnosky; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Kaufman; a sister in law Myrna Monser; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by a son in law, Gregory Visnosky; and several siblings.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm at the Lester R Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta, with Rev. Bernard Ampong, celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta; Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta; or At Home Care, 297 Main Street, Oneonta, in memory of Madolyn Danzi.
