IN MEMORIAM: Matthew L. Bowman, 48;

Systems Administrator In Capitol District

Matthew Bowman

ONEONTA – Matthew Lee Bowman, 48, a computer systems administrator who attended Oneonta schools and received his bachelor’s from SUNY Oneonta, passed away Aug. 20, 2017, in his home in Clifton Park.

He was born May 12, 1969, in Tacoma, Wash., and was adopted by John F. and Margaret M. (Mahnken) Bowman. Matt grew up in a military family, traveling the world. After his father retired, his family returned to Central New York.

Matt worked with the Homestead Restaurant in Colliersville; the New York State IT department in Albany; and as network administration for several companies in the Capital District.  Currently, he was a systems administrator for Kitware, Clifton Park.

Matt had a passion for dogs and drums, playing in several Albany area bands over the years, and was a good friend to many.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret “Marge” and Michael Schneider of Schenevus; his father, John “Jack” Bowman of Apalachicola, Fla.; his siblings, Jacqueline (Francis) Volpe of Columbia, Tenn., John (Sara) Bowman of Farmington, Mich., Damon (Heather) Schneider of Schenevus, Mike (Erika) Bowman of Niskayuna, and Devlon Schneider of Schenevus; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Paul J. Mijas as celebrant. Following the interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, a reception and visitation will be held in the Social Hall at St. Joseph’s Church.

Donations may be made to an SPCA of one’s choice.

Arrangements are entrusted with Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
