Decries Outmigration

Candidate At GOP Women’s Luncheon

COOPERSTOWN – Bottom line: New Yorkers are leaving New York State faster than any other states’ residents are leaving their states.

Republican Marc Molinaro, the Dutchess county executive who is running for governor, today laid the blame squarely on his opponent, Democrat Andrew Cuomo, the incumbent.

Taxes and regulations, increasing during eight years Cuomo has been in office, are responsible for driving outmigration, he said.

He also criticized corruption in the Cuomo Administration, noting seven or eight state employees and would-be contractors have been convicted of insider dealing, some of them top associates of the governor.

Molinaro was in Cooperstown for the 55th annual luncheon & fashion show of the Otsego County Republican Women’s Club, held at The Otesaga. He was accompanied by three other local people playing a role in his campaign: Vince and Lynn Casale of Cooperstown, the political consultants, Bobby Walker, former president of the county’s Young Republicans.

County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr. also spoke, reviewing his record and outlining his credentials.  He is running for reelection this fall.

Also at the meeting, Diane Koffer of Cooperstown was named Republican Woman of the Year, and Mary Catella of Oneonta, who will be attending Cazenovia College this fall, read her essay on the responsibility to vote, which won her the club’s annual scholarship.
