New Marker Honors Soldier’s Service

COOPERSTOWN—Otsego County will be unveiling a historical marker honoring Revolutionary War soldier John Davidson. The event will be held on Saturday, May 9th, at 11 a.m. at the junction of State Highway 80 and Red House Hill Road, Cooperstown (opposite the Hickory Grove Motel).

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation, with assistance from the Empire State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, arranged for the marker.

There will be a brief service including an honor guard from the Cooperstown Vets Club. Speakers will include Cooperstown Mayor Ellen Tillapaugh. Following the unveiling, Bennett Motor Sales Inc. has provided transportation to visit Davidson’s gravesite, just up the hill from the marker.
