League To Host Webinar
COOPERSTOWN—The League of Women Voters of the Cooperstown Area will host a free ‘Beyond Plastic Pollution” webinar from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesdays from September 3 to October 15. Taught by Judith Enck of Beyond Plastics, the class will be held at the Clark Sports Center and cover the catastrophic global consequences of plastic pollution. No registration is required. Vintage Vinyl Sale Scheduled
EXETER—Schuyler Lake United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1472 County Highway 22, will hold a Vintage Vinyl LP, 78 RPM and CD Sale from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. There will be a wide selection of music, ranging from British and American rock to folk, jazz and classical. Most items range from $1.00-3.00. All proceeds will benefit the food pantry. ‘Metal at the Mill’ Planned
EAST MEREDITH—Hanford Mills Museum will hold its popular annual “Metal at the Mill” event and Dan Rion Memorial Antique Engine Jamboree from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7. Regional collectors of historic engines and tractors will display their collections, and museum staff will demonstrate machinery. To exhibit in the event, contact lizb@hanfordmills.org. Food products, concessions and information from local organizations will be available. The Stoddard Hollow String Band will play from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Hanford Mills will also run a coopering workshop from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, taught by Bob Allers. Pamela Cooley will lead a cooking workshop using recipes from early 1900s Delaware County from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. Local Authors Set To Speak
ONEONTA—Community Arts Network of Oneonta’s Writers Salon will host Shannon Delany, Jim Loudon, and Jennifer Donohue for a self-publishing primer and reading at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18. The local authors will read from their work and share insight on their writing and publishing journeys. The event will be held at Wilber Mansion, 11 Ford Avenue, and is free and open to the public. Meet, Greet Hosts Principals
COOPERSTOWN—Welcome Home Cooperstown’s next monthly meet and greet, held at 22 Main Street from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, will focus on students and education. Cooperstown Elementary Principal Amy Malcuria and Junior/Senior High Principal Laurie LaMondie will give brief remarks and share information on the upcoming school year. Randy Smith will discuss the Cooperstown Concert Series, and there will be general information on area events and institutions. There will be live music by Sandy Ackerman and refreshments from the Cooperstown Lions Club. Welcome Home Cooperstown meet and greets are intended to welcome newcomers to the community, share information and connect with established residents.
Dems To Discuss Medicaid
ONEONTA—Otsego County Board Representative Adrienne Martini (D-12) will be the guest speaker at the Oneonta Democratic Club’s next meeting. It will be held at Green Earth Health Market, 4 Market Street, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 13. Martini will discuss the wide-ranging local impacts of the federal “Big Beautiful Bill” budget, including projected effects on SNAP, Medicaid, property taxes, health care access and mental health services, as well as the County Board’s response to these challenges. Charles Miller, president of the Oneonta College Democrats, will speak on campus activities, and several local candidates for office will give brief remarks. The meeting is open to the public. Watershed Meeting Is Aug. 27
SPRINGFIELD—The first public meeting of the Otsego Lake Watershed Protection Plan will be held in the Lakeview Pavilion of Glimmerglass State Park from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27. Community members and stakeholders are urged to attend and learn how to get involved in the watershed protection process. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with light refreshments provided. Event Has Art, Food, Music
COOPERSTOWN—Cooperstown Art Association’s annual Fine Arts on the Lawn show and sale will return to the Village Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 30 and 31. This original artwork sale includes oils, photography, printmaking, watercolors, ink, drawings, pastels and other media from more than 20 CAA member artists. The Smithy Clay Studio will demonstrate their craft and offer a selection of their wares for purchase. There will be live music and concessions from Rick’s Hot Dog Cart all weekend. Art Garage Events Announced
COOPERSTOWN—The Art Garage will host hands-on workshops and demonstrations by artists participating in its “Samurai Baseball and More” exhibition, on display through September. The program of free artists’ talks will continue with panel discussions on “Playing on the Girls Team” at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 28 and “Playing Hard Ball” at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3. Gas Prices Holding Steady
UTICA—New York State gas prices remained stable at an average of $3.15 per gallon over the week ending Monday, August 25, AAA Northeast announced. Nationwide gasoline demand declined by 200,000 barrels per day to 8.8 million as markets cool before Labor Day. Domestic refineries processed more crude oil than during any other week in 2025, although much of this capacity has been dedicated to diesel production. MVCAA Joins Fundraiser
UTICA—Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency will participate in the Mohawk Valley Gives joint fundraising campaign on September 19, aiming to reach 40 individual contributors. MVCAA assists individuals and families near the poverty level with early childhood education, emergency services, housing support, and other immediate help. Seed, Dairy Workshops Slated
COBLESKILL—Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Schoharie County Master Gardeners will present a workshop on seed saving for the home gardener from 1-2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5. It is free and open to the public, with no registration required. The demonstration will be held at the CCE building, 173 South Grand Street in Cobleskill. Food entrepreneurs and dairy innovators with early-stage ideas for value-added dairy products are invited to participate in the fall Dairy Runway cohort, a Cornell-hosted entrepreneurship course focused on product concept, customer discovery, and prototyping. The multi-week virtual course will feature instruction from industry experts and set up participants to advance to the kitchen incubator stage. Oneontan To Lead Workshop
EAST MEREDITH—The West Kortright Center will host Oneonta-based stonemason Patrick Ryan for a historic stone wall restoration workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 6-7. Participants will learn the basics of free-standing dry-laid stone building and restoration while working to preserve a historic cemetery wall at the Delaware County Historical Association. Attendees should bring lunch, gloves, heavy boots and a stone hammer, if they have one. There is a $240.00 fee. FLY CREEK—The Town of Otsego will hold a drop-in open house and feedback session on the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District’s contracted revisions of the town’s 2008 Comprehensive Plan from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 28. Smithy Opens Class Sessions
COOPERSTOWN—The Smithy Clay Studio has announced a slate of seven classes for the fall season. Open studio hours are Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. “Throwing with More Clay” runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, followed by “Exploring the Potter’s Wheel” from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday classes include “Handbuilding with Slabs,” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., “Handmade Lamps,” 1:30-4:30 p.m. and “Centering the Potter,” 6-9 p.m. There will be a “Creating Sets” class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays and “Creative Constructions” at the same time on Fridays. A Holiday Magic Workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 6 and 13. “Clay Cartoons,” a four-week class for children, will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays from October 4-25. WKC Concert Lineup Released
EAST MEREDITH—The Hop City Hellcats will perform at the West Kortright Center’s Second Sundays Concert Series at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 14. Otesaga Announces Fall Events
COOPERSTOWN—The Otesaga Resort Hotel will hold its new Full Moon Hike and Dinner events at 6 p.m. on September 7, October 6, November 5, and December 4. Attendees will complete a half-hour moonlit hike on Cooperstown trails, followed by a buffet dinner around the hotel’s Fire Bar. Hamblin Presents at Museum
ONEONTA—The Swart-Wilcox House Museum will host local historian and museum curator Diane Hamblin for a presentation on Victorian toys from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 31. She will discuss the changes in childhood and ideas about children during the technological and cultural upheaval of the mid-19th century. Participants are encouraged to bring a historic toy to share, and should bring their own lawn chair or blanket. The program is free and open to the public and will be held on the front lawn.

More than 40 selected artisans will display a wide variety of materials and media. “Xperience For All,” a family-friendly day of workshops, demonstrations and presentations, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 27.
