Gas Prices Tick Down
UTICA—The average price of gasoline in New York State declined three cents to $3.17 per gallon over the week ending Monday, October 6, according to a report by AAA Northeast. Demand dropped to about 8.5 million barrels a day, in line with typical seasonal trends but enough to register the second-lowest weekly figure since May. Domestic gasoline stocks grew by 4.1 million barrels a day as American refiners prepare to reduce their capacity and begin the fall maintenance season. Wider market forces contributed to a fall in the price of crude oil, especially an announcement by the OPEC+ nations that they will increase output by more than 137,000 barrels per day in November. New York’s price is eight cents higher than last month and five cents lower than this day last year. To view the full report, visit gasprices.aaa.com.
