Oneonta Couple Accused Of Stealing

From Elderly Woman’s Bank Account

ONEONTA – An Oneonta couple was arrested Monday, Feb. 8 and charged with using an elderly neighbor’s checking account to pay their bills.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s office was alerted by the Office of the Aging that an elderly woman’s checking account was being used to make payments on her neighbor’s bills.  An investigation revealed that Gordon Carr-Wisner, 29 and his wife, Rebecca Carr-Wisner, 25, obtained the account information, over-paid on their NYSEG account and then received a refund check for more than $3,000.  The investigation also revealed that the account was being used to pay the couple’s Time Warner Bill, as well as other purchases.

In addition, Gordon is currently on probation for previous felony convictions.  The defendants were arraigned to the Town of Oneonta Court, where Rebecca was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $1,00 cash, $2,000 bond and set to appear in the Town of Oneonta court on March 3.  Gordon was remanded into custody with no bail and set to appear in court on March 10.
