IN MEMORIAM: Peter John Evers, 87;

NYC Iron Worker Retired To Davenport

DAVENPORT – Peter John Evers, 87, a union iron worker in New York City who retired to Davenport 20 years ago, passed away at home on January 13, 2019.

He was born on July 8, 1931, on Long Island, the son of Peter Evers and Harriet Warner.

A Marine, Peter served in the Korean War.  He was employed with the Local 361 in New York City as an Iron Worker.

He enjoyed working on his cars and was a great mechanic.  He also enjoyed feeding the birds and loved his cat.

He is survived by his children, Joseph (Kathy), Robert (Pat), Vicky, Cathy (Charlie), Mitchell, Chris, Patty (Kevin) and Jim; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Roslyn Richter and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Bill.

A military graveside service at the Fergusonville Cemetery will be held at later date.
