ALBANY – State Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford, today hosted the Cooperstown High School Girls Basketball team and their coach Mike Niles in Albany where they were honored during the Senate session as the 2015 state Class C champions.

“The Cooperstown High School Girls Basketball team is made up of true trailblazers – capturing the school’s first state basketball title,” said Senator Seward.  “From the extra practices at the Clark Sports Center, to summer tournaments, to late nights at the Cooperstown High School gym, and, I’m certain, some time in neighborhood driveways shooting free throws, this team put the work in and the end result was a much sought after state title.”

Cooperstown defeated Northern Adirondack 61-34 in the New York State Class C championship on March 22, 2015 capping a 25-1 season.

When offered the opportunity, many of us – his fellow legislators, community leaders, top corporate executives and businesspeople, and citizens to whom he reached out and helped in time of need – have now done so in tributes that appear in this Special Edition – from The…
