IN  MEMORIAM: ‘Shoey’ Shoemaker, 76;

Army Veteran Retired From State DOT

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – David Clark “Shoey” Shoemaker, 76 of Walnut Grove Hill Road, Richfield Springs, passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2019, in his home.

Born in Ilion on May 26, 1942 to Clark Shoemaker and Beulah Willsey, Shoey was an Army veteran.  He retired from the state Department of Transportation.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Mosher; daughter Steffani and fiance Bob; son Tim and Jen; sister Carolyn Hugick; sister-in-law Karen and Doug Palmer; two brothers-in-law Bill and Sherry Mosher, and Steve and Anita Mosher; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; felines Sassy Ann and Sissy Lea.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Burlington Flats Fish & Game or Richfield Springs Sportsman Club.

Don Allan Oberriter passed gently from this life into the arms of his Lord on the morning of April 11, 2025. Don was born in 1937 in Utica to John M. Oberriter and Bernice Ellen (Denielt) Oberriter. He graduated from Utica Free Academy, Class of 1955, and attended the University of Vermont for two years, majoring in hotel and resort management. In January 1961, Don was inducted into the Army at Los Angeles, California, where he stepped forward to take the Oath of Service, serving honorably at Fort Ord, Monterey, California, at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, and at Loring Air Base, Limestone, Maine, with the 10th Ordinance detachment of Fort Devins, Massachusetts.…
