ONEONTA – Edward James Johnston, 72, who worked for years in his family-owned Center Street Food Store, oassed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020.

He was born at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, on Aug. 3, 1947, the son of Edward Alexander and Genevieve (Irish) Johnston.

Ed moved with his family to Otsego County at an early age, graduated from Oneonta High School in 1965 and attended Central City Business Institute in Syracuse.

WORCESTER — Robert F. Milavec, 82, a dairyman and family man, passed away at home on Nov. 22, 2019.

He was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Central Bridge, the son of Frank and Mary (Muehl) Milavec.

Bob graduated from Worcester Central School, Class of 1955.

He married Nancy Green on June 3, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Worcester.

He was a member of the Army Reserves, serving from 1955 to 1963.

ROSEBOOM – Dennis Carl Hoke, Sr., 79, a farmer and longtime member of the Roseboom Town Board, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Bassett Hospital with his loving wife Joan Edna Hoke at his side.

Dennis was born May 18, 1940, in South Valley, to Donald and Mary “Eliza” Barnes. He began school in a two-room schoolhouse in South Valley and, as he grew older, attended the Cherry Valley and later Sharon Springs school systems.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – The funeral is Saturday, Oct. 26, for Robert William “Woody” Woodrow Jr., 82, an Army veteran and former local veterans post commander who passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 2019, in Folts Brook Skilled Nursing Facility, Herkimer.  He had the love and support of his devoted family by his side.

Woody was born on Sept. 14, 1937, in Cooperstown, son of the late Robert W. Sr. and Mildred Jackson Woodrow.  He was raised in Garrattsville and was a graduate of Morris High School.  He furthered his education graduating from SUNY Canton Technical.

MOUNT VISION – David J. Barker, 65, of Mount Vision, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, with his loving family by his side.

He was born March 9, 1954, in Oneonta, the son of the late Lloyd E. and Mildred (Laing) Barker. He was a life-long area resident.  Following high school, David served in the Army, then in the Army National Guard for several years.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Leroy E. Snyder, 70, of Mohawk, who grew up in the Town of Richfield and served in the Army before going on to a career in entrepreneurship, passed away peacefully on Friday April 19, 2019 in Bassett Hospital.

LeRoy was born on Dec. 11, 1948, in Cooperstown, a son to the late Lester L. and Agnes M. Spooner Snyder. He was raised and educated in Richfield and a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. From 1968 to 1971, he served in the Army Infantry in Vietnam. In 1983 he married the former Beatrice Herringshaw.

MOUNT VISION – David Miller, 72, who retired as an NYCM insurance investigator, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mount Vision Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2019.

He was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Albany, a son of Alfred Durwood Miller and Pearl M. Wasson Miller. Raised and educated in Oneonta, Dave attended college and then entered the military. He proudly served in the Army from March 8, 1966, until he received his Honorable Discharge on Feb. 23, 1968.

SIDNEY – Larry T. Beers, 68, of Sidney, an Army veteran who retired from Mirabito Energy Products,  passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Bassett Hospital.

He was born Aug. 24, 1950, son of the late Victor and Florence (Fletcher) Beers in Sidney.

Larry served his country in the Army in 1970-71 and was honorably discharged.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Chester “Skip” Collins, Jr., 73, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at his home.

He was born on July 27, 1945, in Cooperstown, son of Phyllis (Walrath) Collins of Springfield, and the late Chester M. Collins, Sr.  A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School, Class of 1963.

On March 18, 1965, he married the former Mary Alice “Mikki” Sheridan. For 30 years they shared a loving union until her passing on Nov. 11, 1995.  On Oct. 9, 2009, he married Karen Alexander in Richfield Springs.

WESTFORD – Robert E. Hill Sr., 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at the Cooperstown Center, where he had resided for nine months.

He was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Worcester, the son of Harold and Beatrice (Germond) Hill.

Bob married Audrey Ruth Townsend. She predeceased him on April 14, 1997.
He graduated from Worcester Central School, Class of 1951.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Edward R. Fahey, 58, an Army veteran and auto enthusiast, passed away at home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.  He resided on Route 20.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1960, in Ilion, a son of Robert and the late Ann Rathmussen Fahey. He was raised and educated in Richfield, graduating from Richfield Springs High School.

After graduation, he enlisted in the Army proud, for 10 years.

Robert “RJ” Mulligan

COOPERSTOWN – Robert Joseph Mulligan, 90, a retired contractor and Cooperstown Native Son, passed away Aug. 12, 2017.

RJ was born May 23, 1927, on the family farm in the Town of Warren, the fifth of six children to Hugh “Doad” and Mary Dunne Mulligan.  RJ graduated from Richfield Springs Central School.

He married Mary Faith St. John on Dec. 11, 1948, and then joined the Army, where he was stationed in Wisconsin, Japan and Germany.  Upon returning from Germany with Mary, they settled in Cooperstown and started their family and first business, Cooperstown Disposal.
