Rain Stops, Coop Loop Let’s Ghouls Run Wild

19TH YEAR, CHANGES DUE ON 20TH

Rain Stops, Coop Loop

Lets Ghouls Run Wild

If you see a leggy blond leading a group of runners – some ghost-like – through Cooperstown, it’s the 19th annual Halloween Coop Loop, now underway.  You may recognize the blond as CCS grad Charles Hollister, now living in Oneonta.  Right behind him are two other top local contenders, Frank Wilsey, Fly Creek, (in red) and Dr. John Raymond, the Bassett urologist.  Inset, three spooky pals from Cooperstown were back this year, a bit taller:  Oliver Horvath, center, and the Spinosa brothers, Marco, right, and Theo,   Before starting the race, the Clark Sports Center’s Doug McCoy pointed out this is the 19th Coop Loop, and “something different” is planned next year, the 20th, with details to be forthcoming.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)

Strange Creatures Run In Halloween Coop Loop

Strange Creatures Run

In Halloween Coop Loop

If you stick your head out the window in Cooperstown right now, you might see the Coop Loop 5K and 10K participants running by in full costume.   Above, Cooperstown pals – from left, Paul Crowell, Mark Spinosa and John Luke Raymond – prepare to run the 5K.  (Last year, Mark was identified as the “unidentified taco”!).  At right, if you tot you taw a puddy-tat on the way to the race, you did, you did – Alena Krug, CCS high school secretary, was directing runners from her post at Susquehanna and Beaver.  Due to the rain, the turnout was a little lower than usual for the Clark Sports Center event, but the runners made up the difference in enthusiasm. On Yearly Halloween Loop

Leading off the annual Coop Loop 5K and 10K runs a few minutes ago from the Clark Sports Center were, in top photo, front and center, from left, CCS seventh-graders Hannah Craig, Anya Hodgins and Madi Miosek.  Some strange apparations accompanied them, including, lower right, Max Gialanella and Charles Hollister, both of Cooperstown, flanked by Hannah Dulovich of Schuyler Lake, left, and Shelby Hollister, Charles’ new bride.  The pirate crew, upper right, from left, are Meg Kiernan, the Otsego town supervisor, and Susie Knight and Colette Tangel, both of Cooperstown.  These characters ran along village streets, then circled back to the Clark.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
