Robert E. Ahlqvist, 67, was arrested after state police and Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the bar following reports that a vehicle had crashed into the building. According to a state police press release, troopers observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment, and Ahlqvist’s reportable B.A.C. was .13 percent.
MOUNT VISION – The Otsego County Health Department is warning the public to stay away from the NY Harvest & Freedom Fair/Political Rally at 397 County Highway 15, just west of here, after it was declared a “nonessential gathering” and ordered not to take place.
According to a press release from Public Health Director Heidi Bond, the county Health Department became aware of the event and issued a cease and desist order on Thursday.
However, Bond was notified the event was being held regardless, she said, which would have been a violation of Executive Order 202.8 and Executive Order 202.45: “Businesses/events must limit all non-essential gatherings to 50 or fewer individuals for any lawful purpose or reason.”
MOUNT VISION – Philip D. Gregory, 90, a teacher and the seventh generation to live on his family farm here, passed away July 24, 2019, in Sebastian, Fla., where he maintained a second home.
He was born in Oneonta, on April 9, 1929, to Edna L. Gregory.
MOUNT VISION – Allan L. Fraser, 55, who fought cancer since 1999, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019, with his family by his side in the home that he built.
Allan was born on Feb. 2, 1964 and was a son of the late Winnard and Rose (Marano) Fraser. On Sept. 28, 1991 he married the former Margaret Boudreau in Laurens.
Allan was employed as operations foreman by Beaver Mountain Log Homes in Deposit.
MOUNT VISION – David J. Barker, 65, of Mount Vision, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 9, 1954, in Oneonta, the son of the late Lloyd E. and Mildred (Laing) Barker. He was a life-long area resident. Following high school, David served in the Army, then in the Army National Guard for several years.
MOUNT VISION – Marjorie E. Luke, 74, a seamstress at Sanyo in Pony Farm, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 26, 2019, in Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oneonta.
She was born July 4, 1944, in Weymouth, N.J., the daughter of the late David and Marjorie (Jones) Daub. Marjorie married Christopher Luke on Dec. 11, 1960, in Nesco, N.J., but she had lived locally for 30 years.
Marjorie worked for many years at Sanyo in Oneonta as a seamstress. She loved the outdoors where she enjoyed feeding the birds and deer on her lawn. She also had a passion for gardening both flowers and vegetables.
MOUNT VISION – Diana Isabel Marlette, a kind and caring person, passed away peacefully March 19, 2019, just 12 days before her 95th birthday, at her home in Mount Vision.
She was born in New Lisbon, a daughter of John K. Harrington and Agatha Telfer Harrington. She grew up on a farm where her grandparents were all within a two-mile radius. She was active in the 4-H Club which she continued as a leader of in her adult life.
After graduating from Hartwick High School in 1941, Diana studied Home Economics at Morrisville Agricultural & Technical College, graduating in 1943.
MOUNT VISION – David Miller, 72, who retired as an NYCM insurance investigator, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mount Vision Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2019.
He was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Albany, a son of Alfred Durwood Miller and Pearl M. Wasson Miller. Raised and educated in Oneonta, Dave attended college and then entered the military. He proudly served in the Army from March 8, 1966, until he received his Honorable Discharge on Feb. 23, 1968.
MOUNT VISION – Suzanne M. Gregory, 79, who was active in civic life locally after retiring from a career in the U.S. government, passed away Jan. 6, 2019, at Albany Medical Center.
She was born July 1, 1939 in Cooperstown, the daughter of a Leo Francis and Marjorie Ruth (Pitts) Wikoff. Suzanne married Michael Quinn Gregory on July 21, 1957 in Hartwick.
PORTLANDVILLE – Anita Marie McChesney, 56, Portlandville, devoted to operating her family’s business, Mount Vision Garden Center, while becoming dedicated nature photographer, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Albany Medical Center following her struggle with breast cancer.
Anita was born May 14, 1962, in Oneonta. Shortly thereafter, her parents moved to New Jersey where she spent the first 15 years of her life. The family then moved to Mount Vision, where they established the Mount Vision Garden Center.
MOUNT VISION – Denis Michael Hennessy, 79, died peacefully on Nov. 24, 2017, surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica.
Denis was born to George and Sophie (Russell) Hennessy on June 9, 1938, in Queens. He had two older brothers, George and James “Babe.”
At Richmond Hill High School he was a catcher on the baseball team and graduated as valedictorian. He went on to graduate from St. John’s University (BA in English) and SUNY Oneonta (MA in Irish Literature.)
