NEW BERLIN – A New Berlin man has been charged with heroin possession after a “no knock” search warrant was executed at 11:20 a.m. yesterday by Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies at 134 Great Brook Potter Road. The search warrant stemmed from a lengthy investigation into the sales of heroin and cocaine in Chenango County.

The Narcotics Division and Road Patrol Deputies made entry into the residence and took Nathaniel G. Sherwood, 31, into custody. During the search approximately 70 packets of heroin were located inside of a false bottom can. In addition to the heroin, the Sheriff’s Office also recovered over $2,000 in cash, a digital scale, and seized a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.

Over the course of this investigation key information was shared between the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the Norwich City Police Department. Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride also assisted with the case.

Nathaniel G. Sherwood was charged with the Class B felony of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. He was arraigned in the Town of New Berlin Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
