‘Player Of Year’

Co-Captain, Guard Led Team

To CCS’ 1st Class C State Title

Jack Lambert of Cooperstown, who led the CCS Hawkeyes Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team to its first championship on Sunday, March 17, today was named Class C “Player of the Year” by the  New York State Sportswriters Association.  (Ian Austin/AllOTSEGO.com)

COOPERSTOWN – The New York State Sportswriters Association today gave its Class C “Player of the Year” designation to Jack Lambert, the co-captain and star guard of the 2018-19  CCS Hawkeyes Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team.

A seventh-team selection last year, Lambert led Cooperstown to the school’s first Class C boys basketball championship.

The senior scored 24 points per game and set a new state tournament record by scoring 53 points in the Hawkeyes’ semifinal win over Greenport, syracuse.com recounted in a recap of the season.

Lambert was one of 39 players from Section III schools who received honors in Class B, C or D.
