IN MEMORIAM: Terri Ann Smith, 60;
Husband, Four Children Survive Her
COOPERSTOWN – Terri Ann Smith, 60, a mother of four well known through waitressing in local restaurants, died Tuesday at her home on Route 28 in Pierstown, surrounded by her family.
Born in Ilion on May 28, 1956, Terri was the daughter of David Hribar and Betty (Bachanas) Hribar. Her father worked at the Remington Arms plant in Ilion, but later moved his family back to the Hribar property on Fork Shop Road. Terri graduated from Cooperstown Central School in 1974 and married Victor D. Smith on Oct. 18, 1975.
When not raising her children, Terri was employed as a waitress in several local establishments, most recently at the Schuyler Lake Hotel.
Her family was the most important element of life to Terri and she enjoyed coordinating family get-togethers. She was known as a fabulous cook, and her family particularly enjoyed her delicious spaghetti, meat roast and ham soup. Terri also enjoyed gardening, sewing and crossword puzzles, long car rides, ghost stories and TV shows, and going out to eat.
A practical joker, she loved to laugh and play pranks much to the amusement of her family, who will long remember the “stocking” prank.
In addition to Victor, her husband of nearly 41 years, Terri is survived by her four children, Heather Bancroft (Jason) of Burlington Flats, Jason Smith of Pierstown, Cady (Derek) Schoonover of Burlington Flats, and Rebecca “Becky” (Douglas, Jr.) Brooks of Richfield Springs. Also, seven grandchildren: Heather’s five children, Emily, Hannah, Bo, Arro and Sadie, and Cady’s two children, Amelia and Piper. Terri is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Hribar of Fork Shop and four siblings, David Hribar, Jr., Diane Hribar both of Fork Shop, Keith Hribar, and Melissa (Andy) Madaras, all of Richfield Springs along with several nieces and nephews.
Terri was predeceased by her father David M. Hribar on April 6, 2012.
In accordance with her wishes services for Terri will be private. Those who wish, are encouraged to donate in Terri’s memory to the charity of their choice.
