County Treasurer Crowell

Says He Won’t Run Again

Dan Crowell

COOPERSTOWN – County Treasurer Dan Crowell has announced he won’t seek a third term, and will be “whole-heartedly” supporting his deputy, Allen Ruffles, former Key Bank branch manager, for the the job.

Crowell said he is considering career options both in the military – he is a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve – and the private sector.

Crowell issued this announcement at 12:51 this afternoon:

“Just a quick note to let you know that I am publicly letting people know that I will not be running for a third term and will whole-heartedly be supporting the Deputy Treasurer Allen Ruffles in his campaign to fill the position.

“I continue to enjoy the work, but Allen has been a great addition and is ready to fill the Treasurer role.  I will continue to serve to the end of my term (December 31, 2017).  My plans after that are not yet solidified.  I am considering military options as well as private sector.

“In any case, Otsego County will remain home base in the medium to long-term, if not necessarily the short-term.”
