IN MEMORIAM: Jennifer Collins, 91;

Nurse’s Aide Leaves Many Survivors

SCHENEVUS – Jennifer Collins, 91, a nurse’s aide who retired in 1985 after many years at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Richfield Springs, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, 2017, in Fox Nursing Home.

She was born on Aug. 1,1926, in Grand Gorge, a daughter of the late Osmer and Hazel Whispell Mondore. She was raised and educated in Grand Gorge. Jennie was the widow of Perry Collins who passed away in 1985.

She will always be remembered as a caring person who brought sunshine and joy to the lives she touched. She loved to play Yahtzee and cards with her grandchilden. Her family was the love of her life and she took pride in their accomplishments.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Mondore and his wife Helen-Eileen of Richfield Springs, Pete Collins (Angie) of Fly Creek, Robert Collins and his wife Peggy of Schenevus; a brother, Bill Mondore of Hobart; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a son-in-law, Marvin “Butch” Bender of Central Bridge, several nieces, and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband Perry, she was preceded in death by a daughter Geraldine Bender; three brothers, Glen and his wife Helen, Hamford and his wife Frances, and Gerald Mondore, who died in World War II; daughter-in-law Maxine; sister-in-law Linda, two sisters, Margaret Beardslee and Rosetta Duncan and her husband Earl, and a great-grandson Zachary.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. David Tosi, pastor of the Richfield Springs Bible Church, will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service (1-2 p.m.) Interment will follow after the service in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.
