350 At Benefit Auction

For Polar Bear Jump

With a crowd of about 350 eager guests, The Goodyear Lake Polar Bear Jump was able to raise over $10,000 at the annual Chinese Auction in the Milford Central School gymnasium this afternoon. A tradition that began 23 years ago, the Goodyear Lake Polar Bear Jump sees hundreds of willing volunteers raise money through sponsors to take the plunge into the icy waters of frozen Goodyear Lake. The funds raised from the event, lasts year raising a record $128,000, are distributed to multiple local children facing severe illness or injury, such as 16-year-old Mackenzie Cotten of Sidney, pictured at right, who is one of 11 local recipients for this year’s event. The annual Chinese Auction held by the Polar Bear Jump is just another fundraiser to help offset the costs for the big event, scheduled for February 17, 2018. (Parker Fish/AllOTSEGO.com)
