IN MEMORIAM: Andrea  Schleicher, 73;

Retired Teacher, Oneonta UMC Member

Andrea  Schleicher

EAST MEREDITH – Andrea A. Schleicher, 73, a retired school teacher, passed away on July 26, 2019, at her home after a battle with cancer.  Her family was by her side.

She was born Sept. 12, 1945, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of John Andrew and Agnes Cowan (Rawstron) Schleicher.

In 1963, Andrea graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, and in 1967 received a bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College in Massachusetts.  Over time, Andrea completed her master’s degree and was a teacher for the public-school district in Framingham, retiring in 2003.

Andrea was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta, and was a member of the bell choir.  During retirement she enjoyed all the things she loved to do, especially sewing, embroidering, cooking and baking for both the church, family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Helen and James Varco of Harpersfield; her brother, J. Gordon and Marjorie Schleicher of Mason, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Paul, Noel, Wendy, Marcia, Andrew, Kim and James Jr. and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Aug. 16, at the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Marti Swards-Horrell, officiating.  The inurnment will be at the church’s columbarium.

Donations may be made in loving memory of Andrea to the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or to Catskill Area Hospice, 297 River Street Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820.
