IN MEMORIAM: Bobbi K. Stensland, 57;

SUNY Grad, Elementary School Teacher

GILBERTSVILLE – Bobbi K. Stensland, 57, Gilbertsville, an elementary teacher at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019.

Bobbi was born on April 14, 1962, a daughter of Robert and Bernice (Larson) Nonemacher. On July 4, 1987 ,she married her life-long partner, Michael Stensland, at her parents’ home in Edmeston.

Bobbi received her education first from Edmeston Central School, then from MVCC and eventually obtaining her master’s from SUNY Oneonta.

She was an active parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morris, serving in the positions of lector and Sunday School teacher, and a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity at SUNY Oneonta.

Bobbi enjoyed gardening, hiking, traveling, baking, swimming, collecting old post cards, riding her bike, and spending time with family, especially her two beautiful daughters.

She is survived by her loving husband Michael; children Lilly Stensland (Andy Mulichak) and Ivy Stensland; parents Bob and Berni Nonemacher; brother Randy (Karen) Nonemacher; sisters, Dani (Leon) Stockwell, Kim (John) Flynn and Tomi (Jon) Stern; many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved pets Kit-Kat and Bingo.

She is predeceased by brothers-in-law Ron DesRoches, Ron Pettit, and Douglas Holt.

Family and friends are invited to visitation hours, 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad St., Morris. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will take place in the near future at Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to a fund that will be established with Community Bank, N.A, 132 W. Main St, Morris, NY 13808 that will assist her daughter Ivy or to the Gilbertsville Fire Department, P.O. Box 72, Gilbertsville, NY 13776.

Bobbi’s family has trusted her care to the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

  2. Ivy, I am saddened to hear of the death or your mom. I am Dan Larson, brother of your grandma, Bernice Nonenmacher. I live in Downers Grove, Illinois, where I grew up, as did your grandma, Bernice. I have five children, Jeff (California) Eric (Alaska) Tim (Ferguson, Missouri), Carla(Alaska), and Brendan, (Aurora, Illinois. When we visited Edmeston, during childhood years, Carla and your mom were playmates.
