For Monica Anne O’Leary Pawkett

Monica Anne O’Leary Pawkett

ONEONTA – A celebration of life for Monica Anne O’Leary Pawkett, 40, is planned at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at First Presbyterian Church.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1979, and was a bright light until Aug. 1, 2019 when she left this world surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Monica courageously fought cancer for nearly eight years. But she didn’t let it define her.

What meant most to Monica was her loving family, her daughter Ella, parents Mary and Josh O’Leary of Oneonta, her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Erin, her sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Graham, her nieces and nephews, Xander, Gwyn, Jake, Mack and Poppy, and all of her beloved cousins, aunts and uncles, and her Grandma Betty.

Monica was an incredible mother to her daughter Ella, who was the light of her life.

She leaves behind so many friends whose support for her was unyielding. Everyone who met Monica was touched by her in some way.

  1. I find myself thinking lately of Monica with a smile on my face. She was a fun, smart, interesting 5th grader – the kind that really makes a teacher’s job worthwhile.
    Miss you still!!
Ms. Roam – now Mrs. Lois Kaneg
