IN MEMORIAM: Ciro D. DeFilippo, 63;

Licensed Real Estate Broker In Oneonta

ONEONTA – Ciro D. DeFilippo, 63, a realtor at Coldwell Banker and Bordinger Realty, passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Tuesday, March 27, 2019, at Bassett Hospital, following a short illness.

He was born on March 9, 1956, in Yonkers, the son of Ciro and Beverly (Custer) DeFilippo. He graduated from Iona Preparatory School for Boys.

On Aug. 9, 1997, he married his beloved, Susan, in a garden ceremony in East Aurora.

Before losing his eyesight, Ciro was a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Oneonta. Prior to real estate, he worked for many years in the restaurant/bar industry.

Ciro loved flying and was proud of his multi-engine rated pilots license. He also enjoyed surf-fishing and had a passion for cooking, fine food and wine.

He is survived by his wife of more than 21 years, Susan M. Owens of Oneonta; his mother, Beverly DeFilippo of Oneonta; siblings, Patricia (Tony) Martinez, Robert (Tammy) DeFilippo and Angelina (Richard) Vanek; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father; and his brother, Andrew DeFilippo.

Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut St.
