Council Asked To OK Bike Lanes

On Both Sides Of East Main Street

ONEONTA – When it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Common Council will consider establishing restricted bicycle lanes on both sides of Main Street on the city’s East End.

According to a resolution in the agenda released this afternoon, the Council members will consider eliminating parking from 2 to 6 a.m. to accomplish this.

On the south side, the restricted bike lane would run from Hunt Street (the U.S. Post Office) to the eastern city line (Rose Avenue).

On the north side, it would run from Draper Street (across from the Fox Hospital entrance) to to the eastern city line.

Also on the agenda, Council will be asked to authorize and mayor and city attorney to prepared a proposed agreement to sell part of the city’s Dietz Street lot to Kearney Realty & Development to built the Lotz on Dietz project.
