Unatego Student-Athlete Struck By Car

UNADILLA – Edward A. McKinley III, 15, of Unadilla, a student-athlete at Unatego Central School, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, when he was struck by a car.

He was born on June 14, 2001, in Cooperstown, son of Pamela D. (Vroman) McKinley & Edward A. McKinley II. He was a 10th grade student at Unatego Central School, where he played soccer, basketball and track. He also played soccer at Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA).

He was a member of the Unatego Student Council, Unadilla Teen Center and Anchor Program and was a recipient of the 2016 Scientist of the Year Award. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 1.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela D. McKinley and Christopher Dunn, Unadilla; his father, Edward A. McKinley II, Unadilla; sister Payton McKinley, Unadilla; half-sister Teagan Dunn, Unadilla; also Heath, Austin, Mason, and Claire Dunn.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Patricia & Edward A. McKinley, Otego, and also several aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins on both the McKinley and Vroman families. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ellen Vroman and Harold Vroman Jr.

He was a kind and generous soul, loved by many, who will be missed by his girlfriend, many friends, teammates, church families, class mates and staff at Unatego Central Schools.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church 156 Main St., Unadilla, with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at First Presbyterian Church.
