INDUCTION WEEKEND 2017

For Bringing Integrity, Dignity

To Game, Rachel Robinson Cited

Rachel Robinson expresses her thanks on receiving the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Buck O’Neil Award at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown this afternoon. The widow of Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball’s color line, and a philanthropist and ambassador of the game in her own right, was recognized for integrity, dignity and elevating the sport.  O’Neil, who died in 2006, founded the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., and was part of the movement that led to the inclusion of Negro League players into the Cooperstown Hall.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
